Street name plates restored to former glory thanks to Cllr David Barton

Councillor David Barton has secured funding to have all the street name plates across Southport and West Birkdale restored.

Having completed a full inspection of the ward Cllr Barton noted every sign that either needed repainting, restoring or replacing on a like-for-like basis which totalled almost 100 signs from North to South. Having pursued and negotiated the best possible quote tender with the Council Officers, the Councillor is now able to see his project come to fruition.

Councillor Barton said: “Having lived and worked in Southport my entire life I have observed many of these street name plates on passing whether as a motorist or whilst out and about exercising. Given this is tax payers’ money, whilst the Council must strive to achieve the best possible standards at all times, it must also ensure that it is delivering the best value for money for its populace, therefore I am delighted that once again I have been able to fulfil this request for the benefit and wellbeing of residents and visitors alike as part of my ongoing journey to restore Southport in its entirety, whether it be the town centre or the West Birkdale district. I must extend my greatest appreciations to the Council Officers for all their concerted time and commitment on this particular venture which I am sure will be of value and serviced to my constituents here across Southport.”
