Stranded man rescued on Southport beach

Firefighters were called out to Southport Beach to rescue a man stranded on the mudflats, Saturday 27 June 2015.

They were called out to the incident at around 7pm to the section of Southport Beach opposite Southport Pleasureland.

They rescued a 57-year-old male who lay at the tide edge a mile out from shore.

Firefighters assisted the man and brought both him and his motorised wheelchair back to a place of safety on shore.

Paramedics were called and the man was taken to Southport & Formby District General Hospital.
