Star Wars and Dinosaurs – Just Part of The Atkinson’s One Big Day
It’s that time of year again when Christmas music starts to be heard and mince pies creep into the shops. But more importantly on Saturday19 November its Southport’s Christmas Light Switch on Day and The Atkinson invite you to be at the heart of the fun!
The Atkinson’s One Big Day event includes the grand opening of the hugely anticipated Star Wars exhibition May The Toys Be With You, sponsored by Chris Tinsley Estate Agents. The exhibition offers a unique opportunity to see rare Star Wars collectables from 1977-1985. The private collection is owned by Matt Fox who will be present at the launch. Don’t forget to come dressed up!
May The Toys Be With You opens at 12pm with some very special guests. Admission is £3 / £2 child / £8 family & £20 family season ticket.
Inspired by the exhibition, there is a special FREE drop in Sci-Fi themed Make It! session in the Gallery taking place from 11am-3pm.
Family Christmas crafts take place in the Children’s Library from 11am -4pm and you can get your face painted by Fancy Faces Southport in our foyer throughout the day. Plus we have Creation Station delivering lots of activities inside and outside The Atkinson.
At 2.30pm for an hour let us take you into a world of imagination with Les Petits Theatre Company’s production of Captain Flinn and the Pirate Dinosaurs 2: The Magic Cutlass to life, in the hugely anticipated sequel based on the award-winning book by Giles Andreae and Russell Ayto. All aboard for a non-stop action packed theatrical experience with live music, puppetry and dastardly dinosaurs. Tickets are £9 / £7 child / £28 family (Ages 4+)
Enjoy the best seat in town to countdown to the Light Switch on between 11am – 6pm where you can Discover Ancient Egypt and the stories within Sefton of shipwrecks and the sea in our Museum all for FREE.
The Bakery is in the Christmas spirit serving lots of homemade cakes, festive treats and lots of hots drinks to keep you warm. While the shop is stocked with hampers, stocking treats and one-off pieces of handmade jewellery for that someone special.
