Sports Direct at C12 in Southport to close

The Sports Direct store at Central 12 in Southport us closing down.

Giant Store Closing signs have appeared in the windows of the shop in the retail park on Derby Road.

It comes on the same day that it was revealed that the BHS store on Chapel Street in Southport is one of several across Britain closing down, with the loss of  5o jobs at the Southport store jobs.

The Sports Direct closure however is taking place as the firm looks to open a new flagship store on Tulketh Street, in the site once occupied by Waitrose, and Morrisons.

Hoardings are around the Tulketh Street site with the new development expected to open this August/September this year.
