Southport’s Sean Towndrow secures Mena Tour Golfer Status

31st January 2020

OTS congratulates Southport Golfer Sean Towndrow on securing his Mena Golf Tour Card. Sean travelled out to Aqaba, Jordan to successfully complete the qualification tournament which guarantees Sean a start in each Mena Tour event this year. The Mena Tour is a senior golf professional tour played throughout the Middle East. Sean shot 74, 72 and 75 to finish in 20th place. This comfortably secured qualification and was excellent scoring given the rough conditions; players battled the desert sun whilst being buffeted by 43 mph gusts from the Gulf of Aqaba shoreline which borders Aqaba’s Ayla Golf Course.

Sean will compete again in Jordan next week and then travels on to tournaments in Egypt, Oman, Abu Dhabi and Bahrain. OTS readers may recall that Sean finished second at the King Hamad Trophy, Bahrain in December; fingers crossed he can continue his strong performance throughout the season.

Sean spoke to OTS News following qualification and said, “I’m made up to qualify and look forward to performing on the Mena Tour. The conditions were really tough but I kept going and got my reward. Southport’s windy Link’s course’s stood me in good stead for this challenge! I want to thank my sponsors and I appreciate the continued interest from OTS in my career and raising my profile.”
