Southport’s Screening of Mozart’s Great Masterpiece

Garsington Opera’s production of Mozart’s comic masterpiece, Così fan tutte, will be screened by Sefton Council as part of the Outdoor Cinema season at King’s Gardens, Southport.

Starting at 7pm on Saturday, September 24, the screening is part of Garsington Opera’s outreach programme, aimed at making quality opera accessible to a wider audience.

Featuring international star Lesley Garrett together with a sparkling cast, this exquisite production opened the Garsington Opera season at Wormsley in June.

Arguably Mozart’s greatest masterpiece, Così fan tutte is a bittersweet comedy in which real people face real and painful predicaments, drawing from Mozart some of his most captivating music.

On the day, Sefton Council will be hosting family workshops to get everyone ready for the big event. Taking place from 4.30-6.30pm in the park, children and guardians will be able to make their own swords, opera binoculars and flower bouquets to help bring the performance to life.

Attendees are also welcome to bring their own picnics but are asked to take home any rubbish.

The screening is open to all, with a suggested donation of £2 to the Friends of King’s Gardens which will be used for future events.
