Last night’s final heat of Southport’s Got Talent at the award winning Victoria was a huge success and was enjoyed by all. The venue was packed with a fabulous audience who were entertained by some great contestants and very special guest artists.

Judging last night were well known musician and lecturer at LIPA Mike Smith; Director of the MJ Entertainment Agency Joey Lindens a wonderful artist in his own right, Britain’s Got Talent finalist and great friend to our competition dancer Steve Hall and finally a newcomer to our competition local radio entrepreneur and former Radio City star Jon Jessop who was obviously a natural and thoroughly enjoyed the evening contributing a great deal.

Last night’s Wild Card Final contestants included 22 year old Southport talent Hollie Wills,  22 year old Lauren Ormesher from Manchester, 60 year old Preston resident Don Helm better known as the ‘Chipbuttyman’ and final guest artist the talented up and coming Sarah Beatrice Clifford a 16 year old singer and guitarist from Southport. The guest artists include a 10 year old singing sensation Bradley Stockton  from the CD School of Music  10 year old Bradley  and this years X Factor finalist 21 year old Lauren Smith who was backed by her own very talented and gifted band.

The show ended with the Judge panel struggling to separate these remarkable acts and after some time it was clear that the result was a very close one. The night was a major success and was a grand finish of the heats of this extremely successful competition held at the plush Victoria Pub for the last 16 weeks. Host Sue Kirkbride explains “It was a fantastic night with some really incredible singers who all deserved to win and we really cannot wait for the final”.

Sue’s husband Steve Kirkbride was happy to announce the winner on the night as ‘60 going on 16’ year old oil rig worker Don ‘Chipbuttyman Helm. Don’s the ‘unique act of singing along to his own comedy songs helped him stand out from the rest of the field.

The partnership between the SGT and the very professional Victoria team has made this years Southport Got Talent the most successful ever . It is clear that the partnership between these two groups works totally which helped bring about this success.

The Grand Final will be held on Friday the 2nd of November will include singing sensation Amy Housewine and the show starts at 7.15 pm with some tickets still available Please see the facebook page SouthportGotTalent2102 for a list of all the 18 wonderful acts  who are through to the final. The content will include dancing, comedy bands and young singers.

After this the SGT organiser and Producer Tony Donnellan and the BBC’s Neil Newton will be moving onto their next projects which include assisting with the Southport’s Christmas light’s switch on, providing entertainment for the town’s forthcoming Christmas markets and a brand new show Southport’s KidzGotTalent. Plans for next year include a very grand 1940’s show and outdoor music concerts.
