EEC raise over a thousand pounds for Queenscourt Hospice!
Staff from EEC Home Improvements visited Queenscourt Hospice last week for an official cheque handover totalling £1,215.00. EEC staff cycled for a total of 6 hours in order to raise the money for Queenscourt Hospice a charity which EEC are keen to support.
The cheque was presented by Nicola Bourne, EEC’s Charity Events Co-ordinator in an official cheque presentation at Queenscourt Hospice on Monday 12th May, Queenscourt fundraiser Carolyn Lowry and staff Carol Montgomery and Benadetta McDowell attended the presentation.
The money was raised by employees at EEC Home Improvements, who were all sponsored to do a gruelling 6-hour sponsored spinathon, earlier in the year. The event was held at Southport Star Fitness Gym in Crossens and led by ex-royal marine – Ste Howard from Go Commando Fitness, who put the team through their paces with plenty of hill climbs, sprints, interval training and an hour without bike seats so no-one could sit down not even for a second!
Carolyn Lowry, Queenscourt Hospice’s Fundraiser showed the EEC staff around the hospice and gardens to show EEC where the donations are being used. Nicola Bourne said ““It was lovely to visit Queenscourt Hospice and see the incredible hard work from all the volunteers, nurses and staff there. It was really quite emotional but really inspiring to see the hospice and we hope to raise lots more for Queenscourt in the near future”.
The spinathon took place back in February, and 18 EEC employees crazily signed up, trained and took part in the event, including the company owner, Mr John Ball and director Gill Fox. On the day, everyone who took part received a goody bag as a thank you, and water and snacks were provided throughout the day by EEC’s official sponsors www.initto-winit.com
Queenscourt Hospice means a lot to EEC staff and in the past year EEC have supported Queenscourt Hospice by completing lots of events to raise money including the Xtreme Storm Challenge and dress down days.
