Southport Town Hall entry bollard problem resolved

By On The Spot News23rd July 2016

Southport Town Hall entry bollard problem resolved

Cllr David Barton spoke to OTSNews.co.uk this week, he said: “I can now report back that after continuing to report this item to the relevant departments at Sefton Council, since this was first raised with me shortly after being elected your local councillor, this issue has now been resolved for the benefit of the community.”

“The designated Engineer has now been out to the bollards this week and has mended them. He has identified some problems, for instance cars parking on the loop that have been causing the system to fail. These are presently being addressed by the Engineer to prevent further obstruction to the Entry Barrier system operating on Lord Street immediately outside the Southport Town Hall.”

“Previously the Council had employed their own electrical contractor as the first call-out when the bollards failed. If the issue was found to be hydraulic then they would call out their specialist sub-contractor. At the time this option was chosen as this was found to be the most cost effective approach. Despite since proving to be an ineffective solution in the long- term due to continual maintenance work arising from the issues alluded to previously the Council has since re-employed the original Company that installed the bollards on a comprehensive maintenance agreement. This contract is due to commence shortly therefore alleviating the past issues associated with the bollards being out of action for extended periods of time.”

“Many appreciations once again to everyone who raised this issue with me during Summer 2014. Together we can make Southport a brighter better place for everyone. Onwards & upwards!”

“In the meantime should anyone be they local resident or business owner wish to get in touch with any local issues or neighbourhood concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me on:-
