Southport town centre road cordoned off by police and firefighters (OTSNews.tv)

Merseyside Police can confirm that they were called to an address in Southport this morning (Monday, 9 May).

Police attended an address in Royal Terrace at around 11.15am following a report from a member of the public concerned for the safety of a man.

Police and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service attended and police negotiated with the man.

The man was escorted out of the property with cuts to his hands and face. A friend of the man in question said: “He’s just having a f#cking bad day – don’t you worry he’ll will be back”

He has been detained under the Mental Health Act and taken to hospital.
