Southport suffers in Walk-In wilderness with no hope in sight

The campaign to get a walk in centre in Southport is heating up with many calling for its immediate reinstatement.

“The seven day and evening GP service sounds great”, said one OTS reader “but appears to be just for routine and non-urgent appointments only.

“Where I’m from, hospitals which are a similar distance apart, such as Ormskirk and Southport, have an A&E for all, as well as a maternity department.”

“I work in the NHS in what was the Christiana Hartley Unit – a Southport maternity hospital.

With the building of many new houses set to go ahead in Formby, potentially many more children and ladies of childbearing age will travel to Ormskirk. Surely the Children’s A&E and maternity unit are stretched to capacity?

Lack of funding may be mentioned – but something should be done.”
