Southport Rugby Club | COVID-19 Statement

13th March 2020

As a club we are committed to the health and safety of all members, players and staff. We have followed Public Health Englands guidelines and will continue to do so.

It is for this reason that all senior rugby fixtures for Southport Rugby Club this weekend will be postponed. A first team player who attended training on Tuesday evening developed flu like symptoms and on Thursday, as per NHS guidelines, self-isolated.

We have been in communication with opposition teams and explained the situation and have taken the mutual decision to postpone all senior rugby matches. These include Mens, first, second and third teams and the ladies team.

We have increased the cleaning regimes in the club house and changing rooms following training last night (12th of March 2020) and at this stage we see no reason to postpone the mini’s and junior fixtures or training that is scheduled for Sunday morning (15th of March 2020).

We will continue to monitor the situation but it is worthwhile reiterating Public Health England guidance and if you feel unwell and have a fever and a new persistent cough then you must not attend the Club and follow the self –isolation guidance to reduce the risk to others and to minimise the spread.

If you are unsure of the guidance that has been issued please refer to the NHS website.
