Southport residents urged to beware of an Investment Scam

A local resident received a phone call purporting to be from an employee of an investment company. The caller claimed that the resident had a great opportunity to invest in a Bond scheme, this the victim agreed to do and sent over £20,000 to one account and £30,000 to a second account. The victim became suspicious when it showed on their bank statement that the second account was being investigated for fraud.

Crime Prevention Tips

If you wish to invest in shares, stocks, bonds etc. it is advisable to do so through a reputable and accredited company. Make an appointment and speak personally to the employee of the company at an agreed meeting at the company’s office.

It is not a good idea to engage in any such transaction or disclose any personal information with anybody over the telephone
