Southport residents asked to be on their guard against scam emails

10th April 2020

Sefton residents are being asked to be on their guard against scam emails, purporting to be from the Government.

One email relates to council tax and refers to a reduction in council tax. Another recent scam email relates to small business grant support.

All correspondence relating to your council tax bill will be sent from Sefton Council, rather than the Government.

Sefton Council will never ask for your bank details via email.

You should avoid clicking on any links or downloading any attachments in unsolicited emails or texts from unknown sources, or even trusted ones, unless you are absolutely sure that it is authentic.
