Southport Plumber K Redmond says don’t get ripped off by big firms
Southport Plumber K Redmond said: I have run my own plumbing and heating business for over thirty five years. I have become aware that large companies appear to be using high pressure sales techniques targeting older people charging them more than the market prices for their products they supply.
In some cases a thousand pounds more than a self employed heating contractor would charge, then claim to offer boiler care, but in fact the boilers are already covered by the manufactures guarantee.
They charged an elderly customer in the Southport £2,700 for a simple boiler swap in a small bungalow, yet they gave another customer a price of £2,700 to fit a boiler in a much larger house and had to remove the tank and cylinder.
Even worse I was called to a broken down boiler. This boiler was leaking carbon monoxide gas. The boiler in question had been fitted by a household name company which regulary advertises on television.
The bench mark book had never been filled in, the boiler had never been serviced, and the service records had never been filled in.
The boiler manufactures glow worm boiler has told all gas safe installaters including the household named company above to change the heat exchange gaskets, this was not done putting the customer’s lives in danger.
The price charged by large companies is a national scandal, and the public should be made aware of what’s going on!
