On Thursday 22 November at 12:00pm, Southport MP Damien Moore will swap the backbenches for the driving seat of a heavy-duty forklift truck on a construction site, when he dons Hi Vis jacket, boots and hard hat to lay the foundation stone at a £16m state-of-the-art care village development in Birkdale for not-for-profit care village operator, Belong.

The foundation stone ceremony marks a milestone in the construction of the specialist dementia care provider’s latest development. Upon completion, it will become Belong’s eighth village and will feature distinctive details and materials inspired by the West Birkdale Conservation Area, including Reigate Medium Multi brickwork, stone cladding to apartment balconies and feature window surrounds.

Belong Deputy Chief Executive, Tracy Paine, commented: “We look forward to making a real contribution to the Birkdale area with our latest state-of-the-art village and look forward to providing high quality services to local people.”

The new development, on Oxford Road, will provide class-leading dementia care and accommodation for over 100 people. It will provide 24-hour care and nursing support to 72 people in extended family sized households. In addition, the village will provide 30, one and two bedroom independent living apartments, together with a range of facilities open to the public, including a bistro, hair salon, exercise studio and function rooms, designed to promote maximum engagement with local communities.
