Southport man to run 370 miles for  Presfield High School students

Barry Rimmer, a Southport man, will be running the Trans Pennine Trail from Hornsea to Southport (370 miles!) to raise money for a life skills trip for Presfield High School’s sixth form students. Presfield High School, based in Churchtown, is a specialist school for students aged 11-19 with ASC.

Barry is running the Trans Pennine Trail to support Presfield’s attempts to take their sixth form students on an experience of a lifetime abroad. Please donate what you can to support such a worthy cause!

Barry’s running story began 5 years ago. He has completed around 30 half marathons , 9 marathons and recently completed his first Ultra race in March finishing The Chester Ultra (52 miles) in 10 hrs 45 mins.

This latest challenge has cutoff points and an overall time limit of 100 hrs. The first 24hrs requires reaching a checkpoint at 81 miles to be able to continue. He aims to keep to a steady pace of around 4 miles per hour using a run walk strategy hopefully reaching 81 miles in around 20 hrs. From then on in its just a physical and mental challenge to keep moving on very little sleep. They will have tracker chips fitted to us which will allow real time tracking throughout the event.

If you would like to support Barry in this very worth cause you can do so here.
