Southport man prosecuted for possession of class A drug mushrooms

18th January 2020

Police are reiterating the dangers of taking class A drugs after a man from Southport appeared in court for possession of magic mushrooms and cannabis.

Calvin Wright, 33, of Fell View, pleaded guilty at Sefton Magistrates Court on January 8 2020.

The drugs were found at his home during a police search on November 17 in 2018.

The court heard Wright had a previous conviction for production of cannabis from 2016 which was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court with a community order.

The magistrates fined him £450 with £135 costs.

The chair of the bench said it was the first time she had seen somebody prosecuted for possession of class A drug mushrooms.
