Southport man gets 5 years for stabbing best friend

Thomas Wainwright, aged 23, of Tulketh Street, Southport, was sentenced to 5 years jail at Liverpool Crown Court for stabbing his best friend on Christmas Eve in Nevill Street, Southport.

The court heard how Wainwright plunged a steak knife into the chest of lifelong friend Jack Wardell after hearing an allegation about him and a mutual acquaintance   Mr.Wardell sustained liver and kidney injuries during the attack.

Wainwright pleaded guilty to wounding with intent and possession of a knife in a public place.  He was sentenced to 5 years prison.
