UPDATE | Southport man charged after £66.5m cocaine and heroin haul seized

A Southport man was among six people charged after border officers seized drugs worth £66.5m as they were driven into the UK.

GMP has confirmed that Graham Rawlings has been charged with two counts of conspiracy to fraudulently evade any duty/prohibition/provision and two counts of conspiracy to supply a Class A drug.

Officers from Merseyside Police’s Matrix Unit – raided his Sussex Road home on Tuesday morning.

Rawlings, 58 will appear in court later this month in connection with a 58kg of cocaine and 84kg of heroin haul – believed to have a street value of just over £66.5m.

Their charges come after an investigation launched in May 2017 when UK Border Force stopped a Scania HGV at King George Docks in Hull.

The six, who all face the same charges, are due at Manchester Crown Court on August 31 2017.

 

Anti gun and gang unit execute a warrant on Sussex Road Southport.

An address on Sussex road, Southport was raided by officers from Merseyside Police’s anti-gun and gang unit this morning (Wednesday 2 August 2017).

Merseyside police’s Matrix team assisted in the execution of a warrant on behalf of Greater Manchester Police at around 8am.

Merseyside police dog section was used during searches of the property.

It is not yet known what arrests were made during the raid. OTS News has approached GMP for more details.
