Southport man arrested after sting by ‘paedophile hunters’

Police have swooped and taken a Southport man into custody after he was exposed by ‘paedophile hunters’ on Facebook.

The 47-year-old was taken into police custody with a hoody protecting his identity from a baying mob.

He was arrested on the corner of Sussex Road and Zetland Street after a live Facebook by a group of self styled paedo hunters.

A spokesman for Merseyside Police said: “We have arrested a 47-year-old man on suspicion of attempting to meet a child following grooming and indecent images offences

“Officers attended at an address in Sussex Road, Southport, at 10.50am today, Wednesday 20th February.

“The man is currently in custody where he will be questioned by officers.”
