Principal Adele Wills is delighted to announce the good news that the College has been successful in its bid to secure additional Government funding.  The grant, which is earmarked only for use in building projects, will be used to build a centre of excellence for creative arts subjects at KGV, subject to approval of plans.

The new building, which will open during the 2014/15 academic year will provide state of the art facilities for students studying Art, Media, Film, Performance, Theatre and Drama.

Adele Wills said:  “We are delighted to be able to offer this up to date accommodation for the young people of Southport with a particular focus on unleashing creativity and artistic potential.  The College pioneered a successful Creative Arts Festival at the end of the last academic year, and the new building will provide an excellent venue with fantastic equipment for future work of this kind.  It will, of course, also significantly enhance the day to day learning of our students, particularly those who wish to specialise in Art, Performance or Media.”

The new building adds to other recent refurbishment work in the Learning Centre, Refectory, Science areas and student toilet facilities.  Assistant Principal, Jan Regan who is in charge of the building project said: “it is a very exciting time for the College, the new building will replace current temporary accommodation and will provide a modern learning environment for students and staff.”

Plans of the development will be displayed at the College Open Evenings on Wednesday 16th October and Thursday 14th November 2013.  Further information or details can be obtained by contacting Jan Regan at the College.
