Southport Melodic Jazz presents one of it’s regular “Jazz Days” at The Royal Clifton Hotel on Sunday 23rd April.
Matinee at 2 to 4.30 pm “Swingin and Singin” Ronnie Scott’s front line vocalist and trumpet virtuoso Georgina Jackson (pic attached) guests with Phil Shotton’s Swingshift Big Band.
Well known and popular big band jazz with Georgina’s scintillating trumpet and vocals.
Evening 8 to 10.30 pm “The Messengers” Quintet Mike Hall (tenor sax) and Steve Waterman (trumpet) and a cracking rhythm section (Richard Wetherall piano, Ed Harrison bass and Eryl Roberts drums) play classic ‘blue note’ jazz from the Freddie Hubbard/Dexter Gordon era.
Doors and bar open 30 minutes before start times.
