Former Southport & International Artist’ Robert Newbiggin’ has recently been commissioned to paint an official Eric Morecambe Portrait.
Rob said: “This is the chosen image from a private family collection sent to me by Eric’s daughter Gail Stuart to produce the official Eric Morecambe Portrait I’m working from this particular Black & White image to produce a full colour version of this image.
This first stage is using a time served Oil Technique I use of a Grey Grisaille putting down the essential tones, shapes & characteristics in this what is basically an underpainting and later once the whole portrait has been completed of this stage and dry it’s all glazed in colour over several weeks
The portrait is to be officially unveiled by Eric Morecambe’s Family and hung pride of place in Morecambe Town Hall in memory of the Iconic Comedy Genius for all to view.
Rob went on to say:” It doesn’t get bigger than this for a Portrait Artist!’
