Southport and Formby Hospitals NHS Trust has confirmed that its car parks will not be managed by a private company even after the technology used to control has gone out to tender.

Trust bosses have confirmed that the car parks will continue to be managed by the hospitals.

The statement comes after fears were raised that a private company was being sought to take over the overall manage- mentofthecarparks.

A member of staff, who did not want to be named, said he believed that private car park managementcompaniesmake a significant amount of their profits from issuing penalties, and that it would be in their interests to fine staff and patients.
