Business Feature

Southport Electric bikes – Unit 38 Birkdale Trading Estate Southport, PR8 4PZ was today invited to look at one of the towns fastest growing businesses and test drive a bike or two….!

Glenn Davies told us how he started the business:

“In the summer of 2015 my wife and I were on a tour through France, Switzerland and Italy. We noticed that many people were using electric bikes (eBikes). When we returned to the UK it was quite obvious that, although many online retailers had eBikes for sale, there were very few places to try them out.”

“With this in mind we thoroughly researched the market to find a suitable manufacturer. We settled on Roodog as the quality and looks of their bikes appealed to us the most. We promptly bought two (the Tourer and the Chic) and set about exploring Southport on bikes.

ots-southport-e-bikes“We were often stopped and faced lots of questions about our bikes (see the section about eBikes on the home page) and it struck us that many people would be interested in trying the bikes out.”

“We decided that because of the fun we had riding our bikes, the money we saved by not using the car and the weight we lost (!) we would set up our own show room to sell eBikes so others could also enjoy their many benefits. Naturally we chose Roodog as our preferred supplier and we started trading in February 2016.”
