A new college specialising in Engineering, Health & Social Care and Childcare for students leaving year nine and starting year ten will be opened by Southport College in September 2015. The college will be located in its own dedicated area within Southport College’s Mornington Road Campus. Southport College will now join a growing number of FE colleges across the country graded good or outstanding by Ofsted who have extended their offer to 14-16 year olds. Interested parents and pupils are invited to attend an information evening on Thursday 4 December from 6.30pm at Southport College.

Students at the new college will study a specialist work-related qualification in Engineering or Health & Social Care and Childcare and GCSEs in English, maths, science and ICT. This combination is designed to give students a head start in their chosen industry and successful students are guaranteed a place at Southport College on an advanced level course when they finish their 2 year courses.
