A Merseyside-based company which creates innovative radiator covers is closing in on its first 1,000 sales.

Radwraps, a Merseyside Innovation Awards monthly award winner, has clocked up 700 online and retail sales since launching in late 2013 but is hoping to reach the milestone of 1,000 by spring 2015 as it eyes growth of 200 per cent for the year.

James Maddocks, who runs the business with his father John, in Southport, said their products allow customers to decorate even the blandest of radiators with a design of their choice without affecting the heat output.

The company has already secured licensing deals with Liverpool FC and Manchester United FC and is now in talks with a number of other football clubs.

The entrepreneur told Insider: “The simplicity of the Radwraps is the reason why they’re proving so popular. We’ve all seem those drab radiators that dominate a room but until now there’s been very little that can be done about it.

“That’s how we came across the idea of designing and manufacturing a magnetic cover that can be attached to the surface of the radiators without the need for any glue, tacks or pins. It literally takes two seconds to line up. The designs can also blend in with the existing wallpaper.

“One of our customers compared it to having a picture on the radiator and said it had become a real focal point of the room. We were delighted by the comment.”

James Maddocks added: “There’s a lot of talk about being more energy efficient and I think that’s really benefited our product. We’re currently in talks to sell the products in Scandinavia and other parts of Europe so the hope is Radwraps will become a global name.”

All the Radwraps’ manufacturing takes place in Merseyside and the company secured £50,000 of funding from MSIF in May 2014.

John Maddocks said: “James and I really believe in Radwraps with a passion. We are attracting a lot of interest but what we really need is additional investment to help us meet our growth targets around the world. We don’t think there’s anything like our product out there and now we have to tell the world.”

Radwraps was the March 2014 winner of the Merseyside Innovation Awards. The 2015 awards will launch on 19 January.
