Southport armed forces charity to host weekly drop-in centre

MEMBERS of an armed forces charity are holding a drop-in centre each week in Southport  and it includes a free bacon or sausage butty.

The Southport branch of SSAFA are holding their Veterans Information, Assistance and Meeting Hub at the Cleveland Cafe on Lord Street from 10am to 11.30am each Tuesday, when members will help veterans and their families with advice and financial support.

Proof of service will be required.

The initiative was launched in November by the Southport Freemasons, who donated £1,000 to enable the people who call in to the sessions to be offered a complimentary light break- fast and free drink while attending.

The official launch was attended by Southport MP, Damien Moore.

SSAFA is a British charity providing welfare and support for those serving in the armed forces, veterans and armed forces families from the army, RAF and navy.
