NHS trust Board on the road
A NHS trust Board is going on the road and taking decision-making closer to the community.
The directors of Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust will meet at the Chapel Gallery, St Helens Road, Ormskirk, Lancashire L39 4QR at 9am on Wednesday 26th September.
Members of the public are welcome to attend and observe the meeting. Anyone with a special requirement should contact the Trust in advance on 01704 704714.
The Board now meets in public monthly and this is the second time members have met away from the Boardroom at Southport hospital. They met at the Family Life Centre in Southport in May.
The agenda will be available on the Trust website in advance of the meeting. Supporting papers will be made available on the day.
Sir Ron Watson, chairman of the Board, said: “As we move towards becoming a foundation trust, it is more important than ever that the decisions we make about local healthcare are open to public scrutiny.”
Around half the NHS trusts in England have achieved foundation trust status.
Foundation trusts are membership organisations which anyone over 16 can join and, through the membership, local people have a greater say in how local decisions about health care are made. Southport and Ormkirk hopes to become a foundation trust next year.
The Trust is recruiting members now. Further details can be found at www.southportandormskirk.nhs.uk or by calling 01704 704714.
