Following a £42,000 refurbishment the 62nd Scout Group on Bankfield Lane are holding a Grand Opening and Blessing at their headquarters on Sunday 1st July from 2pm.

The 62nd has a long history in the area and we would like to find some of our old Scouting friends. We are especially looking for past leaders and members of the Executive committee to come along and join us on the day. And also any adults or children who may have been Beavers, Cubs or Scouts at the 62nd in the past. We have also been trying hard to find some old colleagues – perhaps your readers might know where the following people are now? Alan Houghton, Janice Howard and Ian Russell – if you know them please ask them to come along.

We would love anyone who has ever had any connection with the 62nd to come along, join us for refreshments and have a look at our transformation. We have been fundraising hard over the last 18 months and have been able to replace the roof, floor, heating and electrics. We also have a new bunk room, kitchen and disabled toilet – a phenomenal achievement which we would like to share with friends old and new.

Please could current warrant holders in Scouting wear uniform? The gates will be open from 2pm for the service at 2.30pm. The blessing will be performed by the Reverend Janice Hill and the Opening Ceremony by Mr and Mrs Carl and Marjorie Kirk.

Please be aware that no parking will be available at the HQ but there is on street and public car parks adjacent to the Botanic Gardens.
