So Talented! Academy of Music and Performing Arts presented the results of their week long summer theatre school with a fabulous performance at the Atkinson Theatre. It was an exciting evening of energetic performances featuring a packed programme of song and dance routines which showcased over 65 of Southport’s youngest and most promising performers.

The show was directed and presented by teacher Jacqui Lewis who worked tirelessly to produce the show with 34 numbers, including songs from Mamma Mia, Chicago, Lion King, Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, Spamalot and many more.

The So Talented! Academy is full of artistic talent and is helping to develop and encourage the stars of tomorrow. The Academy is renowned for unearthing talent in the arts and is a great stepping stone to success for many of their students and for this summer school they welcomed back former student Ryan Collinson, straight from the West End. Ryan played Billy Elliot for 2 years and went on to win a full scholarship to the Tring Park School for the Performing Arts in London and he thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to spend the week with his former teachers and friends at So Talented!

Romy Hollington, Director of the Academy, praised her students for their hard work, dedication, progress and outstanding performances throughout the week by saying “we are so proud of all the students, it’s amazing what these children have achieved in just 5 days, they have excelled themselves and this, our 5th Summer school, has proved to be the biggest show for us yet. It is fantastic to be back at the Atkinson and we have booked three more shows at this venue over the coming year.”
By popular request of both students and parents alike, So Talented! will be running their first ever Easter School in 2014, from Monday 7 April until Friday 11 April with a matinee showcase performance at the Atkinson on Saturday 12 April.
So Talented! students are also once again celebrated huge success in their summer LAMDA exams with 100% distinction/merit rate – over 90% of students gained distinctions! LAMDA examinations are designed to equip candidates, whatever their age or aspirations, with a range of skills that will serve them throughout life.
