Snooker legend Willie Thorne reveals his prostate cancer is back whilst speaking at the Southport FC sportsmans dinner held in Southport tonight, Thursday 31 March 2016.

The devastating news was announced by Willie only months after the former Strictly Come Dancing star had the all clear.

Prior to that he ran up £1million gambling debts, sparking a suicide attempt and leading to him declaring himself bankrupt.

But Willie, whose distinctive voice was heard by millions of snooker fans during commentary on the BBC’s recent coverage of the World Championship, is upbeat about his chances.

Whatever the outcome, Willie says he will carry on working during his treatment.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK, with over 40,000 new cases diagnosed every year.

Members of the audience at tonight’s sportsman dinner were reportedly in tears in tears when the snooker legend announced the news.
