Heartless thieves are targeting kind hearted Samaritans in a cruel distraction robbery in Southport. An elderly woman was caught out at Southport station today and had her entire Christmas shopping stolen after she was tricked into comforting a crying girl who was acting as a distraction.
The girl claimed she had been dumped and needed some change to get home. Yet when the mind hearted woman got out her purse to give the girl cash, she grabbed the woman’s bags and ran into a train carriage as it departed.
It’s thought the scammers travel in for an afternoon and identify targets before making their quick distraction theft. British Transport Police are aware and are investigating.
