Smoke seen across town as fire crews battle marshland blaze

Crews from Merseyside Fire and Rescue have attended a blaze on the seafront marshland this evening.

Smoke could be seen as far away as Ormskirk. OTS understands that a wooden walkway has been set alight.

If confirmed, it would be the second report of arson of a nature trail walkway in as many days, as a walkway on Jubilee Trail was allegedly the subject of vandalism last night.

In a possibly connected incident, the bus shelter outside Sandpipers has been vandalised.

OTS News has approached Merseyside Fire and Rescue for comment.
