Small changes makes a big difference to Rainbow House

Christmas came early at Rainbow House in Ormskirk after it received a festive fundraising boost from Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation.

The charity, which provides Conductive Education to children and adults with a range of neurological conditions, has received a £1,400 donation to buy specially adapted laptops and keyboards.

Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation is funded through the Small Change Big Difference® scheme where members donate the pennies from the interest on their accounts just once a year to help smaller charities and good causes around the UK.

Kat Nelson, Trust and Grants Officer at Rainbow House, said: “We are delighted that the Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation has so generously funded these laptops for our service-users as it means that they now have access to even more new learning opportunities at Rainbow House. We look forward to building on this partnership in the future.”

The donation was nominated by Teejay Pearson, a Customer Consultant at the Yorkshire’s Blackburn branch.

He said: “The staff at Rainbow House do such a wonderful job – it really is overwhelming to see the difference that they make every single day. When I visited the charity I was amazed to see how the new laptops and keyboards have had an impact. The younger children who are non-verbal were using communication aids linked to the laptops to communicate and older adults were using them to do their CVs – it was pretty impressive!”

In 2015, the Charitable Foundation paid 1,502 donations totalling £392,276 to good causes and charities throughout the UK.
