Slick Cupid EP mania caught on film

The excitement and enthusiasm surrounding the latest EP by talented Southport rock band Slick Cupid has been captured in a new video.

The band – Jonny Massam, Danny Green, Lee Linaker and Ged Teevan – headlined at the resort’s Ship and Anchor last Friday night to promote the EP called In Control.

And the response was infectious as fans packed into the Cable Street pub to shout and applaud their approval of the EP, which features four new songs: In Control, Save Me, Dark Creatures and Watch Them Burn.

Martin Hovden, who hosts Mighty Southport Radio’s Live Sounds (a three-hour Wednesday night show for the local unsigned scene from Southport and beyond), filmed the gig and has just released the video.

Martin said: “I hope the film gives viewers an idea of the huge excitement and fun in the Ship and Anchor last Friday. It was an amazing scene as everyone got behind the band.

“I interviewed the Slick Cupid guys before and after their performance, and I also did interviews with members of support bands Deciphered and A Glitch In The System plus fans, supporters and live music lovers.

“The EP has only been out for a few weeks but most of last week’s audience had already decided what their favourite song is and some were actually mouthing the words as Slick Cupid performed on stage.”

Martin added: “Slick Cupid have done Southport really proud. They’re a great bunch of lads and are totally dedicated to their music. They deserve to do well and I wish them every success for the future.”

When the EP was released last month, Martin said: “Every so often I’m sent an EP which really impresses me. If I’m lucky there will be at least one, possibly two outstanding songs.

“The In Control EP by Slick Cupid has four songs – ALL are outstanding.

“I’ve always enjoyed the fun, frenetic and exciting sound of Slick Cupid which works so well with their lively and hugely entertaining stage performance. This new EP reveals a deeper, more thoughtful but adventurous and bold sound. It works. I feel so proud of the lads. They are a credit to Southport.”

You can find out more about Slick Cupid on their Facebook page. And Slick Cupid will be the special studio guests on Live Sounds on Wednesday, March 9th from 7pm-10pm on Mighty Southport Radio.
