SIX MEN from Skelmersdale have been arrested following a series of early morning raids as part of Operation Nemesis.

Warrants were executed this morning (Tuesday 18 November 2014) at addresses on Castlehey, Beechtrees, Carfield and Dorchester Road in the town.

Two men, 20, and two 19 year old men have been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to produce a class A drug. One of the 19 year olds has also been arrested on suspicion of robbery.

An 18 year old man has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply a class A drug and a 19 year old man has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply a class B drug. All six are currently in police custody.

Operation Nemesis is an on-going operation targeting people with suspected links to crime gangs.

Detective Sergeant Dave Brooks said: “This morning’s arrests are part of our on-going commitment to tackle and dismantle groups who supply drugs within our local communities, as well as causing serious anti-social behaviour and violence.

“We take this type of criminality extremely seriously and would urge decent members of the public to report any suspicions to us in the safe knowledge that we will deal with these individuals.

“The activities of drug dealers have a hugely negative effect on our communities. They ruin lives, fuel other crime, and instil fear in our neighbourhoods and we are determined to tackle that.

“We need the public to continue to work with us to help us tackle drug crime by informing us of any suspicious activity.”

Anyone with information about suspicious activity in their community should contact the police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. In an emergency always dial 999.
