Sight loss charity Galloway’s calls on residents to join 3K Santa Dash

1st December 2020

Sight loss charity Galloway’s is calling on people to help spread some festive cheer and take part in their own socially distanced Santa Dash for blind and partially sighted people across Lancashire and Sefton.

To take part in the Galloway’s Santa Dash, people are invited to run, skip or walk 3K in their festive suits anywhere and anytime between Thursday December 10th and Monday December 14th.

Entry is £10 for adults, £5 for children and £25 for a family. Each participant will receive a Santa suit and a medal.

As the Galloway’s Santa Dash had previously taken place in Penwortham, starting at its centre in Howick Park Avenue, Penwortham Town Council has once again agreed to support the event.

Georgia Murphy, Fundraising Assistant at Galloway’s, said: “Our Galloway’s Santa Dash was a great success last year and although we cannot hold a big event, we still wanted to spread some festive cheer and invite ‘Santas’ to do their own dash safely in their bubbles.

“It will provide a little light relief during a difficult year and get us all in the Christmas spirit.

“We want to say a big thank you to Penwortham Town Council for once again supporting our event.  And don’t forget, anyone, anywhere in Lancashire and Sefton can take part in our Santa Dash. Adapting the dash this year to follow social distancing rules means we can encourage even more people to join in and support blind and partially sighted people across Lancashire and Sefton.”

Steve Caswell, from Penwortham Town Council, said: “It is great news that the Santa Dash has been able to return this year, albeit in a slightly different way. It has been a much loved event over the past two years and we are happy to once again show our support. We know it will provide some much needed festive cheer and hope to see many groups of Santas dotted around the county.”
