Shoppers fume at selfish free Parkers

A Southport woman has hit out at rude drivers who are taking advantage of free parking spaces.

Jane Tangeman said she tried to park at McColls convenience store on Shakespeare Street yesterday but despite there being nobody in the shop, the car park was full.

She said “I have plenty of times stopped there for a big shop or to purchase lunch so I am a paying customer.

But I was outraged at the fact at 10:30 am in the morning I coukd not park in their free car park !
It was full with cars parked in the free spaces but none of these car owners were shopping in the shop.

People abusing free spaces is why pay and display goes up!”
