Southport Accident and Emergency is yet again experiencing long delays, say fearful residents.

OTS News has been inundated with messages to state that a number of people have been forced to wait in corridors for over five hours while desperate for a bed and medical attention.

Last night one resident said they were waiting for six hours before they were transferred to a side room, but were still forced to wait even longer to be admitted to a ward.

Ambulances last night and this morning were seen to be queueing up outside the hospital on Town Lane.

An emergency situation is yet to be declared, however a warning to residents has been issued by concerned nurses wishing to remain anonymous to ask patients to consider what may be classed as an emergency and what can be treated by the NHS 111 service
