Samuel Brown, 24, from Skelmersdale has today (January 16) been jailed for inciting a girl to engage in sexual activity.
Samuel Brown, of Glebe Road, was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court.
Between July and December 2015, Brown targeted a 15-year-old girl from the Skelmersdale area.
Having befriended her parents, Brown pursued the teenager, sending her dozens of messages of a sexual nature by phone and social media. He threatened the girl if she told her family about the demands.
On other occasions he would visit the girl’s home making inappropriate requests. In his role as a pizza takeaway driver he continually asked her to go on deliveries with him in the hope she would engage in sexual activity.
The victim never engaged with Brown but this did not stop him continuing to contact her.
The offences only stopped when the victim told her parents who immediately informed the police, resulting in Brown’s arrest.
At court Brown entered guilty pleas for three charges of causing/inciting a girl aged 15 to engage in sexual activity with the offender being over 18. The remaining two charges will lie on file.
He was sentenced to 20 months in prison, reduced to 18 months following a guilty plea.
He was also issued with a restraining order to not contact the victim, a sexual harm prevention order and made to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register, each for 10 years.
Det Con Steve Wilcox, of Skelmersdale CID, said: “Brown is clearly a dangerous offender and we welcome today’s sentence at court.
“Despite the victim continually refusing to engage with Brown, he pursued her relentlessly, even threatening her if she told her family about his actions.
“This behaviour showed the hallmarks of a dangerous sexual predator who continued to make his victim suffer by only admitting his guilt when the trial had started.
“I must thank the victim in this case for showing the courage and bravery to tell her parents who in turn contacted police.
“Today’s sentencing should serve as a warning to others who target the vulnerable.”
