Sefton Council won’t renew Arvato contract

In 2008 Sefton Council signed a 10 yr contract with Avarto a private company to provide services to the Council. These included payroll, council tax collection and IT services amongst others. This led to about 450 Council employees being transferred to the private sector.

There was the option of extending this contract but it is believed that Sefton Council have declined this option and the partnership will end.

It is not yet known whether the business will be broken up and offered out to tender or remain as a whole. Or there remains the option of taking all the workers back “in house” and them becoming Council employees again.
