Sefton 4 Good Grant Scheme Offers Funding to Community Projects

Community, voluntary and faith groups in Sefton can now apply for financial support from a new grant scheme in the borough.

Grants of up to £1,000 are available from the Sefton 4 Good Fund which aims to have a positive impact on local communities and make the area a great place to live and work.

Sefton 4 Good was established by Sefton CVS in 2012 to make it easier for borough residents and businesses to support local good causes by giving their money, resources, time and skills.

Some of the money raised so far is now being distributed via the new fund which is particularly aimed at small organisations, or collaborative projects that include small groups.

To be considered for support, applications must address one or more of the priorities set by the Sefton 4 Good Fund Panel.

This means that projects should help to develop skills, education and employment, or alleviate poverty, hardship and social exclusion.

Priority will also be given to groups who will help to improve the lives of people with a disability or long-term illness, or to improve the health and wellbeing of older residents.

Other key priorities include projects that involve activities for disadvantaged children and young people, or those that bring communities together.

Mike Howlett of Sefton 4 Good commented: “Securing funds for new projects is always a challenge for community organisations, and this has been particularly true in the difficult economic climate of recent years.

“That’s why I am sure the Sefton 4 Good Fund will receive a warm welcome from the borough’s voluntary, community and faith sector, and that we can look forward to  receiving many good-quality applications over the coming weeks.”

More information about the fund and the application form can be downloaded from the Sefton 4 Good website – www.sefton4good.org.  The closing date for applications is 5pm on Thursday 22nd September.
