Schoolchildren traumatised after bus strikes man on Lord Street

Following a serious traffic accident this morning and subsequent on-going police investigation, Lord Street, Southport will be closed in both directions between Eastbank Street & London Street near to the Monument.

The road is likely to be closed for the majority of the day. Motorist are advised to find alternative routes for their journey today, with diversions currently in place. Public Transport has also be affected and some retail store may also be closed.


 

A bus load of schoolchildren have been checked over by paramedics after a collision this morning, Monday 21 October.

An Arriva bus smashed into an unidentified Male after he stepped out onto Lord Street this morning.

His condition is currently unknown but paramedics were working to save his life.

Emergency services including the fire service rushed to the scene near to Southport town hall this morning following an emergency 999 call after the Arriva bus full of schoolchildren was involved in the serious accident on the road.

The Male was taken to hospital where he was last described as being in a severely critical condition.

Anyone who witnessed the accident is asked to call 101 immediately.

An investigation is ongoing and police are expected to give an update shortly
