Two scam artists are operating in the town centre trying to con vulnerable people out of their money using fake cash.
Two men, around 5’9 and wearing tracksuits have been repeatedly approaching shoppers and commuters saying their father had died that day and they need bus fair to return home to Wigan.
They offer to exchange a fake £20 note for two £10s from the victim. Whilst most people are not falling for the scam, elderly women are giving the men cash believing their story to be true.
Police are aware but any witnesses should call 101 if they are approached.
