Heritage Opera returns to The Atkinson with a brand new programme of wonderful vocal music from the operatic and musical theatre world –In Love with Opera.

Heritage Opera, based in the Northwest and under the artistic direction of Merseyside girl Sarah Helsby Hughes, has garnered rave reviews from local, national, and music press with their witty interpretations of mainstream opera. This gala concert offers the perfect opportunity for first-time opera goers and experienced aficionados alike to hear many favourite moments from the great operas, in a friendly, non-formal setting.

Sarah will be joined by international tenor Nicholas Sales (Royal Opera House, Opera North), baritone Thomas Eaglen (Opera North) and mezzo soprano Serenna Wagner (English National Opera), well known to Southport audiences from her solo performances at The Atkinson in Eugene Onegin and Don Giovanni.

The programme will include excerpts from favourite operas and musicals; La boheme, The Merry Widow, The Barber of Seville, Don Giovanni, Carmen, Tosca, and many more.
