    People Power paying off!

Following long-standing pressure for improvements from residents and Cllr Haydn Preece in 2014 the Sandbrook Way improvements commenced.

Today, residents met with Cllr Lynne Thompson and Council officers to suggest a suitable position for the long – awaited mobile planters.

    Cllr Thompson stated:

“Local Ward Councillors, Haydn Preece and Lynne Thompson, are delighted to confirm that following a large Council clean up in the area, 2 mobile planters will shortly be installed in Sandbrook Way ready for planting. Action has also been taken to ensure essential repair work is completed on the empty building on the corner of Sandbrook Way/Sandbrook Road, which has been a constant eyesore for far too long. While positive discussions are currently taking place regarding the long term regeneration of Sandbrook Way any short term measures, which improve and lift the area are welcome. Since August 2016 residents, councillors, local community groups and landlords have been holding regular monthly meetings in an effort to drive forward the improvements required.”

    Cllr Preece added:

“I am delighted to see the precinct area enhanced with the new planters. We are looking to enhance the area in all ways fundamentally possible and this is a very positive step that we have striven for. Caring local residents requested the planters and it is great to deliver a positive result.”

We look forward to seeing the planters erected, which are apparently going to consist of  two containers of about 8 x 4 feet in size.
