RTC St Georges Place Lord Street Southport

A Victorian cast iron post box was demolished during a RTC outside Southport’s main post office at 12:00pm today (Saturday 20th October 2012).

An elderly driver accidentally pressed his foot on the accelerator pedal instead of the brake and crashed into the post box.

A police cordon was placed round the box for health & safety reasons.

The letters inside the box were taken into the main post office to be distributed as normal

FMC Recovery removed the vehicle from the scene a short time later
