Police have been called to a smash on Portland Street after a a Citroen collided with a wall near to the junction with Talbot Street after narrowly missing oncoming traffic.
The car spun out of control after the smash and collided into the wall of the Talbot Hotel causing minor damage to the wall and writing off the Citroen.
Passers by rushed to the scene and gave first aid to the driver, who was said to be suffering from shock and early onset whiplash.
An investigation into the cause of the accident has now been launched.
